Union Correctional Institution-Raiford, Florida ROCK Hounds “Rehabilitation of CastawayK-9s”
The Union Correctional Institution has partnered with the Lake City Humane Society to provide a re-entry program for inmates, while giving abandoned dogs another chance at a forever home. This is a ten week program that will train former shelter dogs in basic obedience (sit, watch, come, heel, down, stay stand, back, wait, touch, etc.) The well-mannered graduates will leave the program sterilized, fully vaccinated, up to date on parasite preventatives, microchipped, crate trained and ready to give a life of loyalty and companionship.
We are asking for your support, by having you spread the word about this program, in order to help the dogs find their perfect forever families. Dogs will be ready to go to their new homes after the completion of the program, however, waiting list applications are being accepted NOW. To apply, visit http://www.lakecityhumane.org/ or Email either Goodge.Mary@mail.dc.state.fl.us or Debra Ludwig at firstname.lastname@example.org

Lake City Humane Society, a private nonprofit organization, was formed in late 1964 to address animal welfare issues in our community. There was no animal shelter, and little attention was paid to the hundreds, if not thousands of animals that were picked up off the streets and killed if no one came to claim them. One city employee – the “dog catcher” was hired to catch and dispose of stray and unclaimed dogs in our area.
